SOTD: Golden Rose Scale Effect 05 (flakies aah!)

Ghello! Back in the days when I just started with growing my nails and actually putting color on them (which is only a year ago, but anyway :D ) I used to think the greatest most beautiful epic awesome polishes were from Nfu-Oh. Now we all have to admit, they freaking rock. Downside? Availability and price. So ever since I’ve been on the lookout for dupes for this brand and I think I have found one!

Two days ago Tessa from Beau-Licious (go check her out!) and I were talking about some new polishes she had gotten recently. She bought polishes from Golden Rose, which totally rang no bells at all for me. I had never heard of that brand *shame*. They have a collection called Scale Effect nail lacquer and it features all sorts of flakies in different colors, wow! She was so kind to send one over to me so I could see for myself how awesome they are. Let’s take a look, shall we?

How badass is that?! Totally Nfu-Oh/Sally Hansen/Nubar worthy in my opinion. The application was easy, dries fast, and guess what..normally they go for around € 4,50 but you can usually find them in a sale for half of that.

I’d like to dedicate the ending of this post to our mailman who obviously is very keen on polishes…not.

This is how the envelop arrived and the polish was hanging out of it, luckily it was still there though?! Thanks for stopping by again ! ♥♥

Review: Glitter Gal holo 1/2

Hi! Today I have blingggggggg to show you. The kind and generous Kerry from the Autralian nail polish brand Glitter Gal  send me two polishes of their popular collection of ’3D Holographic’.

Kerry’s story:
“Both Anna and myself have been friends for many years and partnered together
to create Glitter Gal.

With my experience as a makeup artist and Anna’s background in
creating/suppling “private label” products to other Australian companies we
have designed “Glitter Gal” a great makeup and nail polish range.  Our
products are great quality, eyecatching packaging and very affordable.”

Holo moly!
Glitter Gal currently has about !!27!! holographic and 300 salon colours. They are said to be chipresistant en long lasting. So, that sounds great, but let’s put it to the test!

My opinion:
The samples I received are 1x “Purple” and “Enchanted”. Purple is a dark glittery polish with the typical rainbow appearance.I have to say that the application was so easy. No bald spots and no streakiness. The pictures show 2 normal coats with no topcoat. A thing that surprised me is that a topcoat isn’t even needed if you would just want to add some shine to your mani. Although these polishes are seriously *packed* with glitter, they dry to a very smooth and shiny finish ♥ The dryingtime was good. It took about 10 minutes max to completely dry to a hard finish.

Greedy yet?
The polishes from the 3D Holographic collection cost AUD$11.95 / EUR 8.80 / USD 11,85 / GBP 7,42. Glitter Gal ships internationally and you can pay by Paypal, which is a plus in my opinion. No creditcard required!

Downsides?
The bottles are relatively small. If you know that China Glaze offers 14 ml for half the price of Glitter Gal, and Glitter Gal is only 9 ml, the difference is quite big imo. Another big downside I only just noticed, are the shippingcosts. I placed a testorder to see the shippingcosts and I was amazed, in a negative way unfortunately. The shipping to the Netherlands costs AUD$25.90 which is EUR 19,07?! To the usa it’s USD 25,69. I don’t understand this, I have done a swap with someone from Australia before and I’m quite sure she didn’t pay this much. Also, too bad I have already trown away the packaging but I believe it said the shipping had cost only 11 AUD, for two polishes, hmm. I seriously believe that if the shipping was to be lower, there would be a lot more international costumers. Just an idea!

You can take a look at all the gorgeous holo’s at www.glittergal.com.au. A special thanks to Kerry who was very friendly and patient and gave me the opportunity to share a to me unknown brand with you all :)

SOTD: China Glaze – IDK

I’m sure you have noticed the lack of posting lately, well, I certainly have! :) I’m hating it. I have so many ideas and inspiration waiting to be showed but sometimes it’s hard to find the time. That’s why I’ve decided to start showing swatches as well as just nailart.

Some colors are so breathtakingly beautiful that they deserve their own post, that’s why I want to start my first Swatch Of The Day with a polish I ordered a little while ago and which got me overexcited: China Glaze – IDK. It’s one of three holo’s I picked up and I can’t wait to show you how AMAZING they look.

Ready for it?

I know a lot of people that visit here don’t always read the text that comes with the pictures, I can’t say that bothers me cause from time to time I do that myself as well.  Just because you don’t comment, doesn’t mean you don’t appreciate and love the things you see right? (i love your comments though!! Don’t get me wrong! It’s what makes me enthousiastic in creating new fun mani’s) That’s why I’ll be adding the name and my personal rating to the swatch pictures.

Are these polishes rare now or something? Cause when I tried to find a place to buy the CG polishes from this collection I had a really hard time finding them. Might be just me. Do you own any of these holo’s from CG? Loving them? (probably a stupid question haha) This was two coats on a base of OPI Nail Envy Maintenance with no topcoat.

Could you please give me some feedback on this? Would you like to see swatches here also? Or do you just come to see nailart? Please do tell :-) Take care!

Kiwi Icecream

Err, don’t ask about the title, I guess I’m hungry and these two words came to mind ;) I actually did manage to cut the fimo parts a little smaller this time but I could still use some practice pff. This mani is pretty wearable, one or two thick topcoat layers and you’re good to go. Don’t these colors remind you of a sunny but still slightly cold clear blue spring sky? Sigh, I’m so done with this cold*ss weather here! Someone buy me a ticket to Hawai pretty please?

The white base is the amazing Manglaze Mayonnaise with that lovely subtle shimmer. I really do love this polish. It’s so easy to combine with any other color and it’s also extremely useful as stampingbase! The green is the MNY nr 753 and the topcoat I used is from Trind. I cut off a piece of a kitchensponge and used that to apply the green tips, then added some clear rhinestones and lime hex.

NOW! Time to hunt down some icecream hihi. Take care and thnx once again for stopping by! x

Boring Polka is Boring!

Tomorrow I’m rocking a black dress with black boots and a red rose in my hair, I figured this was the perfect opportunity for a black & white polka dot design which is TOTALLY not original or inspirational haha.

Still felt the need to make a quick pic and show it to you guys! How silly that I have actually never done this before? Less is more sometimes uh :) Enjoy your evening/morning whereever you are! ♥
